What incense flavor do you use the most?
Vanilla or others that aren't so powerful. I like leather too.

What incense type do you use the most? (cone, resin, stick, etc)
Stick, because I haven't had the cash to buy the cool Dragon incense burners at the Ren Faire yet. Maybe this year...

What do you use incense for the most?
As a "room freshener" usually or for meditation

So, I did it!

I registered SabrinaFaire.com hope I spelled right... Hmm. Well anyway, it's registered. Now do I want to get a host and move my blog over to that domain?? Hmm. I found this host, BlogHosts, that seems pretty reasonable (cheap) and they install all sorts of blog software, like WordPress, pMachine, Movable Type, FOR YOU so I wouldn't have to. There's a big plus. I could get a site for as little as $3/month or $30/year. Hmmm. Tempting. Yes, for less than an extra large pizza, mozzarella sticks, and some french fries, you too could have your own web site. Feel free to use the PayPal link over to the left to help me get my own site. Bullwinkle, that trick never works!

Do Deer and Coyotes get along?

I work in a wooded area. We see deer all the time, along with other woodland creatures, birds, possums, squirrel, etc. Yesterday, however, we saw two coyote out in the woods. There they were, just outside the windows, running through the woods. We're watching them, when the gal I'm watching them with turns to me and says, "Do deer and coyotes get along?" Um, seriously? She's got a degree, mind you and she's asking me this? "Uh, I don't think so." I had to tell her. Sad as it is, we do like seeing the deer but still, circle of life and all that jazz, you know. It's nature's way. I just think that if we ever wanted to have a "Bring your pet to work day" that we would need to rethink it.

And now I am going to get off my arse, I'm going to get dressed, and I'm going to start cleaning so that when I come back from Orlando that I don't have to come back to a messy house. I'm not talking "Grandma" clean but "Paramedic" clean should be OK. (Paramedic clean is where the house is clean enough so that if the Paramedics should have to be called they won't be laughing about the house being messy later - just a little glimpse into the abyss which is Sabrina's mind)

Danger Will Robinson, Danger

If enough people started complaining to the president about TLAs*. Do you think he would try and make a constitutional amendment against them?

Good News!

TNG got a new job! He's going to be working at the new Best Buy in Gurnee! Yay!!! The pay is the same as where he's at now but the hours are better and it's in a MUCH better neighborhood, not to mention closer to home. I hope employees get a discount... LOL

I'm so happy!!! This means I get to see him more often! Yay!

:::insert happy dance:::

Oh, Yay!

TNG is home safe and sound. :) He even came over here straight from the airport at 1AM just to give me a hug because he missed me. Awww. He's so sweet.

In unrelated news... I've been thinking about getting my own domain. Hmmm. sabrinafaire.com is finally available. And don't go stealing it cuz I ain't Wiccan so I don't have any qualms about putting a curse on your ass. But, the problem is, finding a host to put it on. It's cheaper than it used to be but what you get with it ranges widely. There are hosts out there that cater specifically to blogs or to personal sites. LunarPages is one, which is where Ren and J's site is, but they don't allow Movable Type on their systems, and I think that's the way I want to go. Another I looked at is BlogHosts, which will install stuff like MT for you, that's a big plus IMO. Anyway, I'm willing to take suggestions. Or hell even donations for paying for the thing. :)

The Latest Meme

Stole this idea from a gal on LiveJournal, TsuKata, so I'm editing out the LJ stuff. Post a comment to this entry in which you recommend to me one of each of the following:

  • a movie
  • a book
  • a musical artist, song, or album
  • a blog not on my blogroll
  • what I should have for dinner
  • a website

And in the way of all memes, once you've done this, you are supposed to copy this and put it in your own blog, if you have one. If you don't have one, get one because you want to be cool, don't you? DON'T YOU????

Things that make you go hmmm.

I don't consider myself a liberal. I don't consider myself a conservative either. I don't identify with the Democrats, but I REALLY don't identify with the Republicans. For shits and giggles I looked up the word "Liberal" on M-W.com
Here's a couple of excerpts from the definition:
  • BROAD-MINDED; especially : not bound by authoritarianism, orthodoxy, or traditional forms
  • one who is open-minded or not strict in the observance of orthodox, traditional, or established forms or ways emphasis added

Hmm. Broad-minded. Open-minded. And "Conservative" would be considered an antonym to "Liberal"? Interesting. Draw your own conclusions.

Neat

William Petersen, aka Gil Grissom is from Evanston, Illinois. A Chicago native!! Of course, all the good ones are. :)

Oh no, he did not!!!!

That goddamn son of a bitch who calls himself president is wants to pass a CONSTITUTIONAL AMENDMENT to ban gay marriages. What a goddamn fucking moron. Get him out now!!!!! Who the fuck does he think he is? Who the fuck is he to say what people can and can't do with their lives? Oh this soooo pisses me off. Impeach. Recall. Get the bastard out of office! Just because a book that was written two thousand years ago is supposedly against homosexuality, that is according to Shrub's interpretation, that means that we need to make it illegal? Newsflash Mr. Bush "homosexual" isn't in the bible! You're nothing but a fundamentalist moron with the Religious Right (which by the way is neither) up your mother fucking ass. Go straight to hell, Mr. Bush.

The last King George was crazy and had to be overthrown, it's about time to overthrow King George II. Oh hold on a second I got Ashcroft flashing the "Patriot" Act at my front door...

I don't need no stinking witty headline

I'm at home today. I've had an off again on again headache and a backache. I don't know if it's the weather, allergies, or what. Hobbs is liking getting attention whenever he wants. I hate sitting and doing nothing though, unless I'm sleeping that is. So I finally hooked up the caller ID thing on my desk. For awhile there all I had was the ID on the cordless and if it was in the kitchen on the cradle then I had no idea who was calling. Telemarketers, bill collectors calling for the EXR (Ex-Roommate), survey folks, all of them got through because I didn't have caller ID in here. Now that's fixed.

I was just looking through a catalog someone sent me awhile ago. She got my address from a bridal show Paul and I went to. Now if I were a cutesy stay at home Christian soccer mommy from Naperville, I might like some of this crap. But alas, none of those things apply so I'm calling a spade a spade. This stuff is just crap. I won't name the company but they have a lot of home decor stuff and a lot of it is Christian based. Now, as much as I would like a black and white ink drawing of Jesus, hmm, I just have no where to put it. I think someone needs to start a "home party" type business that sells Pagan items. Wouldn't that be cool? Invite your friends over and the consultant shows you the latest in Athames, Herbs, and Incense? That would be cool. Someone go do that. But give me credit, I want a check for that idea.

Chilly Kitty

The Chicago area this afternoon is a balmy 42F. Last night wasn't too bad either, but it was cold. This morning when I woke up the furnace wasn't going and it was a bit cool in my room. Hobbs even thought so, as he was cuddled up under the covers with me. My first thought was that the furnace had died and that it was probably leaking Carbon Monoxide. My first clue that this was not the case was that I was not dead. Nor did I have a headache, I wasn't nauseous, and my CO detector wasn't going off like mad. While I was in the bathroom the furnace kicked in and didn't explode, so that was another good sign. After feeding Hobbs and taking my morning drugs I went into the living room to waste some time by reading my email. I mean really it wouldn't be a morning if I didn't start getting dressed or ready for work at least five minutes before I need to leave, right? The thermostat is right above the computer so I flicked on the desk light (after turning the PC on of course) and looked at the 'stat. It was set to oh, around 50 degrees. Now I live alone and unless there's a ghost there changing the temperature settings, I have to assume it's my own darling Hobbs changing it. It's a round thing, not electronic so all he has to do is get on top of the monitor and bat at the dial with his paws and viola, the thing moves. Little bugger. Lucky he's cute! And yes, he's done this before so I know it was him.

In other news... TNG's plane is currently over western Kansas right now. Yes, I've got it up on the internet and the little doohickey updates every minute or so and tells me where the plane is. Unfortunately, I leave work in about five minutes (never thought I'd be saying that) and his plane won't land until after I get home. I don't know if I'm going to LWE tonight or not. I'm leaning towards not, I have a headache. Maybe it's the CO after all...

All that and his name is John?

I just watched the final episode of Sex and the City. I liked it but what the heck? They couldn't come up with a more original name for Mr. Big than "John"? I guess it's nice and normal and no one would have ever picked it.

TNG Just Left Me

OK the headline is true but it's probably not all that dramatic. His work is sending him to Arizona for a few days this week. Unfortunately it will be over the days he normally has off. He just left for work now and is leaving for his trip tomorrow morning so I won't see him until next weekend. :( Bummer. On the bright side, we are leaving for Ren and J's wedding in Orlando next Thursday and we'll have the whole weekend together. YAY!

In other news, I scraped my right knee AGAIN. I slipped on some ice in front of my house and scraped it up. Why do we have ice still? It's 40 degrees here right now, the ice should have melted already. Fuck a duck!

An Open Letter to The Public

If you have a sedan, please, please, figure out that it is in fact a sedan, especially when it is not a Cadillac or similar, and that it is NOT a school bus. Therefore, it should NOT take you ten attempts to park the damn thing.
If I am merging onto the tollway from the on-ramp, you have no choice but to let me in. I am not trying to get ahead of you or one-up you, I am trying to go home. So really, there's no reason for you to speed up and not let me in except for the fact that you are a dumbass, a fuckwit, and a shithead.
People in grocery stores in the main aisles, and those would be the aisles that run the length of the store and cut across the regular aisles and have no product description signs, have the right of way. If you are in a product aisle then you need to yield to everyone else. Do not tear out of these aisles like you own the store. Actually, no, I take that back, please act like you own the store when you visit it. Remember that we are all your customers and you need to show better customer service.
If you are getting married soon, please realize that your friends and family will most likely not be as excited as you. They do have their own lives after all. If one can not afford to get a bridesmaid dress, and shoes, and jewelry, and travel to Timbuckfuckingtoo, and buy you a really expensive present, and pay for an expensive brunch the next morning, and pay for therapy for themselves, then do not be offended. Please get over yourself. Did you feel that? Of course not, because there was no gravitational change in the Earth, it doesn't, after all, revolve around you.
PROLLY IS NOT A FUCKING WORD!!!!!!!!! IT'S PROBABLY P-R-O-B-A-B-L-Y!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is a work related one. If you send an email in asking me to update something in the database something more descriptive than "Please change the link to the ABC document" would probably be helpful. I mean seriously, there are thousands of links and you really need to give me, oh, what is it they call it, a location? I'm not psychic and I can't take a screen shot of what you're looking at when you send me that email.
If you have an SUV what is the point of getting an environmental license plate? I mean seriously, are you trying to do penance? Do you honestly think that whatever piddly amount extra you pay for that plate is going to combat the amount of gas you waste by driving that thing?
On a related note: To the bitch in the SUV in the fast lane yesterday talking on her cell phone: GET OFF THE GOD DAMN PHONE AND DRIVE YOU STUPID WHORE!! Jeezus! I want to GO HOME. I do not care if you are talking to Mr. Hubby about Timmy's soccer practice. Pull off the fucking road if you need to talk, or even into the right lane, but for the love of all that is holy get out of the fucking fast lane!
Doorways are not social gathering spots. I don't care if it's cold outside and you need a cigarette and the doorway will provide just that little bit of warmth when it's opened. If you're worried about being cold, shove the cigarette up your ass. (No offense to my readers who smoke, but I know you and I know that you're not annoying, if you were, you wouldn't be my friend and thus, wouldn't be reading this, right?) ☺
I hate pop-up ads. But what I hate more is pop-up ads with no content. If you have to annoy me, at least have a reason for it, OK?
Can I please have an IPASS lane on on-ramps so I don't have to stop to pay tolls? That's why I signed up for the service. Not so I could get behind someone on their first day ever of riding the tollway needs to count out all their change in pennies. I've paid for tolls in pennies before, but for crying out loud, I count it out BEFORE I get in my car.

Mom

I really don't feel like blogging today. My mother died nine years ago today and if I write about that then I'll get very upset and start crying and I don't want to do that. It doesn't feel right to blog about anything else either, so I guess this is it for today.

Don't get your knickers in a bind

I'm feeling a little sassy today. And I must share the reason. Last week I went shopping. Something I don't get to do very often of late due to my No Tengo Dinero situation. Well anyway, I bought a shirt, some pants, and some knickers. They were on sale and I've been wanting to check them out. Perhaps you've seen them at the store? Or on TV? Or on Samantha during last week's Sex and the City? Tap pants, boy shorts, cheekies, whatever you'd like to call them, they're the hottest thing. And they're a little weird feeling. I gotta say, it's almost like not wearing any underwear. If you're not familiar with these things, here's a picture. Unfortunately I don't look as good as the model does. But you get the idea. Actually, for your sake, I hope you don't get the idea. ;) But well those are what they look like. There's no elastic in the leg, which are longer than briefs, and provide "full coverage."

So, now that you know more about me than you ever wanted to know, how do you feel? Want to run out and buy yourself a pair? Want to run screaming? Want to know why Sabrina is blogging about underwear? Well you'll get no answers here my friend. I just wanted to share my story with the world.

Valentine's Recap & Something Important.

Saturday TNG and I celebrated Valentine's Day. We went and saw 50 First Dates which was a very cute movie. Not for little kids, and Ms. Barrymore's nips did make an appearance. They didn't have top billing like Angelina Jolie's did in Tomb Raider 2 but they definitely had a cameo. Afterwards we were going to go to Outback, but there was a two and a half hour wait at 4:30 so we went for pizza instead. We'll probably go for Outback another time. I must say it was the best Valentine's Day I've ever had. He brought me roses and it was so nice to spend the whole day with him for once. With his job we don't get to do that very often. We are going to Orlando for my friend's wedding in March, so then we'll get to spend several days together! Yay! I can't wait. :)

Last night I watched an HBO Films movie, Iron Jawed Angels. It's a film about the women in the 1910's and 1920's in America who fought for women's right to vote. If you haven't seen the movie yet, I highly recommend it. It will be showing again on HBO, so check your local listings. If you're not registered to vote, please do so, and then exercise that right.

A Death in the Family

My dad just called. My uncle Bill died about an hour ago. He's actually my dad's uncle, so my great-uncle. He was elderly and had been sick a long time. Terrible that he had to die on Valentine's Day. Of all my grandfather's brothers, he was the only one I ever really knew very well. One died when I was young, and one when he was a baby. I met his eldest brother once when I was a kid, but didn't see him again until my grandfather's funeral a couple of years ago. Ray, is his name, and now he's the only one left. I don't think I'll go for the funeral. It's in Virginia, where my dad's family is from. I don't think I could get time off from work as they generally limit bereavement time to immediate family members. I will send a card though, and perhaps some flowers once I find out what funeral home it will be at. Probably the same one that my grandfather was in.

Well, on a lighter note, TNG is coming over this afternoon. We're going to have dinner and then probably go see a movie. Happy Valentine's Day!

Oh, and I changed the picture over there to the right. How you like?

Survivor

OK I am not one to watch Reality TV. In fact I make it a point not to watch it. However, a friend of mine started a Survivor pool and needed a couple of people to join so I signed me and TNG up. I haven't really been watching the show, just the last part after Friends on Thursdays, since it's before CSI: and I'd have to change it to CBS anyway. Last night I flipped over just in time to see Jenna M. make the announcement that she was leaving due to her mother's failing health. I can't tell you how much I felt for this girl. If you haven't lost your mother, you just can't understand the kind of grief that you go through. It's one thing to lose your mom when she's very elderly and you're grown with nearly grown children or whatever. But to lose when you're still young, and Jenna M. is only 22, is very hard. I know, I lost mine when I was 18. So basically, by the end of the show not only was I in tears but when the showed that part that Jenna's mom died eight days later, I started bawling. I'm not a hugging person but I really wanted to give Jenna a hug. And I wanted to bitch slap Alicia from one end of the island to the other and back again for making that snarky comment about how Jenna just shouldn't have come and she's here to play a game. Shut the fuck up you cunt. You don't know what you're talking about. It sucks that Jenna had to leave (though I didn't have her in the pool) but I can't blame her. Her mom was getting worse and she wanted to be there by her side. Had she not left she would have regretted it the rest of her life.

Which political sterotype are you?

Jefferson
Libertarian - You believe that the main use for
government is for some people to lord it over
others at their expense. You maintain that the
government should be as small as possible, and
that civil liberties, "victimless
crimes", and gun ownership should be basic
rights. You probably are OK with capitalism.
Your historical role model is Thomas Jefferson.

Reasons for Love - A Wednesday Meme

Every Wednesday those who are involved in a relationship with somebody share a few (simple but significant) reasons for their love.

Have to do this quick b/c TNG is going to be here soon. Reasons why I love him:
  • He's a sweetie.
  • He's always thinking of me and would do anything for me. No other person has ever been like that.
  • He took care of me when I was sick.
  • He tells me I'm beautiful ALL THE TIME and for no reason.
  • He emails me every day and tells me he loves me.
  • He likes my cat.
OK OK enough of the love fest get out your insulins shots. ;)

The Good, The Bad, and the Naughty

Last Friday I went to workout at Ladies Workout Express again. And I about wanted to be put out of my misery. I went around the circuit twice when really I probably should have stopped at one. But noooo I had to push myself didn't I? Yeah and nearly had to be wheeled out of there. Last night I went back and told myself If you're too tired after one go around, don't do two, just build up to two. But after one go around I felt OK so I went around for another go. Amazingly enough at the end I didn't want to keel over and die. I wasn't uber-exhausted either. I'm quite impressed with myself. We'll see how next time goes.

This morning on the commute in I was behind an SUV on the Interstate with expired plates. Expired in August to be exact. I had a brilliant idea just then. What if the state paid citizens to turn in people with expired plates? You could just send in the license plate number, the expiration sticker date, and then they could compare it to their records. Bam, they could ticket people for having expired plates, get the registration revenue, and I could get some cash on the side. Amazing how much of a tattle tale I can be, huh? Well too bad I've had to stand in line on a Halloween (my plates expire in October) at a Currency Exchange to get my new stickers. The people in those are strange enough characters, imagine being there when they're all in costume!

BTW if you're interested, Seasonale does have a website.

Sign here for your first born child...

I did it. I signed up for Ladies Workout Express. GASP!!! OMG!!!! A CONTRACT. I hate contracts, really. I don't like signing my life away and that's always how I see it be it a credit card app, a loan, or a cell phone. So yes, I'm a member of a gym. Sort of a gym, I mean there's no locker room and no showers, just circuit training. But I am a member none the less. I even went to work out yesterday! Wow. OK now, for those of you who don't know me IRL... I'm not what you would call "in shape". So working out is somewhat of an exertion for me. I believe it will get easier in time, but right now it's a bitch. You go around the circuit twice, and it takes 30 minutes. May not seem hard, but it isn't easy. I can't imagine going around three times or four times like a couple of other gals did last night when I was there. I was on my last machine and as soon as the recorded voice said "Change Machines" I was about ready to collapse. I think I need to learn how to breathe better or something. Unfortunately I don't know anyone who's a hardcore workout expert. If I did, I probably would have killed them long ago.

Born Free...

I had the fortune of going to the gynecologist today. Whee! Right. OK for the guys. Let me explain this procedure to you. You're naked with only a thin paper gown to protect you. (Unless, like me, you bought your own gown that will fit you properly) Then you're left to sit naked in this room til the doctor shows up. It's always about 10 degrees or so colder than any human should normally be able to withstand. Then the doctor comes in and makes small talk while doing things that you would normally only do after a minimum of four dates and a couple of expensive dinners. The exam itself is not fun. You are flat on your back your legs in the air and the doctor sticks what looks like a duck or a gun into your naughty bits, turns the thing and pries it open. Then in goes a pipe cleaner to swab the area around. Ever had a throat culture? Same thing, different end, less phlegm. Now, if you're lucky enough to have a doctor who actually knows what they are doing, the procedure is usually fast and painless. I'm lucky. My doctor is good and, really, the temperature in her office isn't bad, and the floor is carpeted. My doctor is also an OB/GYN, which means she specialized in this. Some PCPs or GPs or "Physician's Assistants" can do this too but they didn't specialize in it. And I would say that they aren't as good. The first three of these things I had done were done by a PA and were not pleasant experiences. It wasn't until I started going to this OB/GYN that I found out that 1. I'm not supposed to be in horrible pain and 2. I'm not supposed to bleed all that much. TMI yet? Too bad it's my blog I can write what I want.

So to finally get to the whole "Born Free..." relevance, the Dr. switched (at my request) my BCPs from Ortho-Cyclen to Seasonale. Now, you're wondering, what's the difference. I shall tell you. With Seasonale, you only get your period FOUR TIMES A YEAR. Yep, just four times. Which is why I wanted it. Seems like a fabulous idea if you ask me. So, starting with the next cycle, I'm going to be on it. What's more, she gave me a free sample so I don't even need to go buy any for three more months. Woo-Hoo!!

Maybe I can get a job with Gil Grissom...

Ren and I went to Curves last night, the one by her. I'm going to visit the one by me tomorrow morning, bright and early at 7:30. I've got tomorrow morning off (Woo-Hoo) for a Doctor's Appointment (Aww...) so I figure I'll do something in the morning other than sleep. What the hell am I thinking???

In other news. TNG and I want to move to Vegas. It's warmer there. But will we be able to find jobs? Can we buy a house? Will Hobbs be able to play with milk jug rings from California just as well as he plays with those from Wisconsin? Will Jessica stop sleeping with Benson? I was starting to feel kinda depressed because the whole housing thing was looking like it did out here. Too expensive. I found a couple of places though that I think might work. If they are in good neighborhoods. Now I don't mean good neighborhoods as in having illegals cut my lawn and clean my house but good as in I'm not afraid to walk past my windows at night for fear of getting shot. So we'll see I suppose.

And another thing, I can't find any good blogs about Las Vegas. Must keep searching. Perhaps I should look in one of those Blog Search Directory thingys I've signed up for. Hmmm. Brilliant, Sabrina, brilliant.

At least they match

First off, obligatory blogging topics:
Super Bowl: Missed the streaker, and the boob, Pats won
Survivor: Watched the show (my first time ever) Rob's a jerk and I wanted Jenna to be voted off.

Now on to the topic at hand. A couple of weeks ago I fell while rushing to a dinner with a friend and skinned my right knee. Last night, returning home from a Pre-Super Bowl Surprise Party, I slipped on the ice on my front walk, fell, and skinned my left knee. So now they match! And I feel like a six year old again with two scabbed over knees. Nice.
