This Is Halloween

OK, I ****L*O*V*E**** Halloween. It's my favorite holiday. It just has one drawback. People bring their children to work. Said children run around screaming about candy. As if they need to put more sugar in their systems. Trick or treat at home in the cold like I had to. We didn't have any of this trick or treating at mom & dad's work or at the mall when I was a kid. Christ, suck it up and go in the cold and the rain. It's even supposed to be nice this year, in the upper 50s/60s. Wussies.

Happy Halloween!!!

Oh, how I love Halloween. It's my all time favorite holiday. Unfortunately, this year I just can't enjoy it. I'm still not feeling 100% up to snuff and it's putting a total damper on my Halloween enjoyment. I am wearing my super special Halloween socks though. :) Glad I could get those in.

Last night, TNG and I went in to Chicago to see the Chicago Civic Symphony. They were having a special Halloween "Hallowed Haunts" performance. All Halloween songs, hosted by Svengoolie. Very cool. One bad part was that we were on the very tippety top balcony and the steps to our seats were kind of steep. I was able to manage them though and was just fine.

Tonight we're supposed to go see a movie. Not sure if we will though, it depends on how I'm feeling. Right now, my head is hurting a tad bit and my freaking ears are plugged. I can't hear anything that doesn't happen in my head! It's driving me nuts. I've tried chewing, yawning, pulling my ears, plugging my nose and blowing, and none of it works! At least it's Friday.

Feeling a bit better...

I'm at work today. I'm feeling a bit better. I was hoping that doing some sort of activity would get me feeling better. So far I'm OK. I hate being sick. I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired.

:(

Still sick. Worse than yesterday morning, but better than yesterday afternoon. Make sense? Yeah, I got worse as the day progressed yesterday. I am doing better though. I still feel like shit though. Ever been sick where you're so achy and everything all over that you can't get comfortable no matter what you do? Yep, that's the problem I'm having. It hurts to sit, lay down, stand, whatever. I haven't been sleeping much. I got 3 whole hours in a row last night. Other than that I was up every hour. TNG did come over yesterday afternoon to take care of me. He brought the kind of OJ I like (no pulp, not from concentrate) and some bottled water. He also brought me flowers. :) He's so sweet.

Good Cough Morning

Crappit. I'm sick. It's 3:20 in the freaking morning and I'm sick. I've been up for over an hour coughing. My throat hurts, I'm getting a headache, and oh, did I mention I'm coughing? I can NOT be sick for Halloween. I refuse to be. No. Nuh uh. Ain't gonna happen. NOOOOOOOO.

Friday night TNG and two friends of mine went to the haunted house at the Lake County Fairgrounds. I thought it was pretty cool. It's been awhile since I've been to a haunted house where I actually screamed instead of walking around going, "Hmmm, yeah, that's been done, yawn"

Saturday I went to a pumpkin carving party! I made a kitty pumpkin. TNG made a cat-o-lantern. I think Gail took some pics so I'm going to post them once I get them from her. Or I'll have TNG take pics and post those. After the pumpkin carving, we went to Laura's Halloween party. Always a good time. She was a rotting corpse. I was a fair maiden (right) and TNG was my knight in shining armor. One gal there, who shall remain nameless, was a midnight fairy. Ever seen a midnight fairy after about 30 Jell-O Shots? It's funny.

Weekend Wrap-Up

TNG is just the sweetest guy ever. Friday, for sweetest day, he had Godiva chocolates "delivered" to my work. Really, he brought them in, gave them to the receptionist, and then hid out in the parking lot. I called him on his cell and went out to thank him. He's such a cutie. He also got me a dragon statue for Sweetest Day/our one month anniversary. Wow, only a month. Seems like I've known him for years. :)

Awhile back he also got me a ring. No, not an engagement ring. It's an Elvish Love Ring, inspired by the Lord of the Rings movie. It has an inscription, in Elvish, that reads: "One ring to show our love, one ring to bind us. One ring to seal our love and forever to entwine us" It's really cool, me likes it.

This weekend we saw Chicago at the Woodstock Opera House. Very good production. This is the last weekend, if you're interested, go see it. Not sure if it's sold out or not. Yesterday we looked at some houses. We'd like to get our own place some day, and just wanted to get some ideas. Plus it's kind of fun to go visit model homes. We probably won't buy new construction though, too much hassle with upgrades and all that. Plus some of those sales people can be pushy.

Oh for crying out loud

I'm throwing my hat in on this whole Cubs fan interference thing. The fan in question works for the same company as I do. No, I don't know him, don't know of him. I don't even work in the same department or building as him. I'm not going to write his name either. That's available in the papers, and I'm not going to promote it more than it is. I feel bad for this guy. The fact of the matter is that the ball was foul, the fan did not reach into fair territory, and he did not directly affect the outcome of the game. After that, yes, the Cubs fell apart. Did that incident lead to morale problems which eventually led to the loss? Quite possibly. But this particular Cub fan did nothing wrong. He did nothing that you and I wouldn't have done in the same situation. Barring of course those folks that would duck for fear of getting hit. It was one out out of a game that has a total of 54. It was one pitch, one little thing. This guy is not responsible. The Cubs are. The Cubs screwed up last night. Let's not hold this fan responsible for something any fan would have done. I've been to Wrigley Field several times and as you are walking up to the stands there are several signs telling you to "Be Alert for Foul Balls". Not once have I seen a sign that warns me to be alert for outfielders.

Go Cubs!

In Fourteen Hundred and Nintey-Two Columbus Discovered the Bahamas - woo!

Saturday TNG and I went up to Wisconsin Dells. Known locally as "The Dells" to you folks not in the Midwest. Despite having grown up around here, this was my first visit to the Dells. We were only there one night so we didn't do the full Dells tour, but we did see some fall foliage, go on a Wisconsin Ducks tour, and had a nice jacuzzi suite at the hotel. :) Pictures will be available shortly.

Speaking of pictures, I am moving. In with TNG. Sort of. The blog is at least. We've got our own website now and I intend on moving the blog over there as soon as I have time to sit down and do it all at once. Anyway, the Wisconsin Dells pics will be up there once we have them ready. Knock yourselves out!!

I'm at home today. No, I'm not lucky enough to have Columbus Day off. I somehow twisted my neck or something this morning and it's pretty painful. I think I've done this before. Sabrina you klutz.

Wow

My phone bill is only $36.50 this month. Wow. Considerably less than I'm used to. Less by half at least. Amazing what happens when your freeloading roommate moves out and no one is calling 411 because they're too lazy to pick up a phone book or use the internet.

Friday 5

  1. Do you watch sports? If so, which ones?
    Mostly Baseball and Football

  2. What/who are your favorite sports teams and/or favorite athletes?
The Cubs, The Bears, and whomever is playing the Packers. :) Favorite athletes? Hmm. I'd say Kerry Wood for now. We Got Wood, baby.

  3. Are there any sports you hate?
    Golf. Boooooorrrrrriiiiiinnnnnnngggggg

  4. Have you ever been to a sports event?
Sure have, several Cubs games, and two Bears games

  5. Do/did you play any sports (in school or other)? How long did you play?
I played Iceless Hockey in grade school for two years and softball for the same two years. I also played tennis one summer.

A Secret Revealed

One month ago today, TNG emailed me for the first time. What a wild and crazy ride it's been. Seems like it's been a lot longer than a month, but a month it's only been. Which is why I've been keeping a secret from my devoted blog readers. Yes, that's right, Sabrina has not been sharing the whole TNG story. I know, I know, you're shocked, bewildered, you'll probably need to call your therapist. But now I'm coming clean. I'm going to tell the truth. And I don't care how anyone takes it. I don't care what anyone thinks.

TNG and I are in love.

There. I said it. It's out in the open. Truth be told, we have been since early on. So why didn't I tell you all? Well some of you learned this off-blog, but not many. I kept it private because it was private. And because I didn't want to sound like a gushing 14 year old with her first boyfriend about how in love they were and blah blah blah pass me the insulin. But it's true, we're crazy for each other. We've spent time together almost every day in the last 3 or so weeks. Seems like a lot longer. Don't worry though. I'm not going to run off and elope or move in with him right away. Nor am I going to try to get pregnant. Actually, that would be the LAST thing I'd want to do. (the getting pregnant part) We have talked about it, and we are going to date for a year and then get engaged. And then get married a year after that. So we're still looking at two years before we get married here people. We're in no rush. But we do intend on getting married. He's the one. After telling me she intended to marry a guy she'd been dating about 8 months last winter, I thought a friend of mine telling me this was out of her skull. But she said, "Sabrina, when you know, you know." Now I get where she was coming from. Sorry I ever doubted you, Zols.

So, there it is. Out in the open. TNG are mad for each other and I've already picked out a wedding dress. (Seriously) LOL Anyway, it feels so great to get that out in the open. Bask in my happiness. I won't rub it in people's faces though, I hate it when others do that. But if you see me giddy and distracted, you know why.

Rambling Ramblings

Fun with search engines!! Here's some stuff people have been looking for and, tragically, found me instead.

nipple stickers
WATER DUNKED WOMEN
Sabrina Fair Character Analysis
Long Kiss Goodnight Geena Davis panties

What's with the water dunking? That's the second time that's showed up. I don't get it. When did I blog about that? Hmm. Sorry to disappoint, all. Ah, Geena Davis' panties from Long Kiss Goodnight. I do remember talking about that. I believe it had something to do with how her nipples weren't showing throughout the water dunking scene (oh that's where that search comes from) and how Angelina Jolie's nipples were a paid cast member in Tomb Raider 2.

Cubs lost last night. :( That's OK. Only the first game. Shake it off. Prior's pitching tonight. I'm not worried.

Arnie's the new Governor of California. If only SNL had some good writers it might be worth watching this week just to see the Arnie jokes.

Happy Hump Day, everyone! Vote Quimby.

IN DUSTY WE TRUSTY

CUBS WIN! CUBS WIN! CUBS WIN! CUBS WIN! CUBS WIN! CUBS WIN! CUBS WIN! CUBS WIN!

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

Oh, am I excited? Oh, yes, I am excited. The Cubbies have beaten the Atlanta Braves in the first post-season series of the year. We take on the Florida Marlins on Tuesday. GO CUBBIESSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!! YAY! HUZZAH HUZZAH HUZZAH!!!! In Dusty We Trusty!!

AND THE BEARS WON!!!! WHEEEEEE It's good to be a Chicagoan.

In other news. I met TNG's mom. She's a very nice person. Very personable. TNG tells me she thought I was very nice. That's gotta count for something, right? After lunch TNG and I went over to the mall. I finally found a purse I like (thanks, TNG!) and transfered over the contents this evening. I found a Borders Gift Card that I forgot I had. Called the toll free number on the back to find that I have nearly $40 worth of credit on it! Wow! It's a good day!

Too bad I have to go to work tomorrow.

la la la

Friday night TNG and I had dinner with two of my friends and their SO's. Well, one fiance and one "not sure of where I stand" type boy. So here you have three girls that work at the same company and three fairly quiet and shy boys. Well, the pizza was good and it's always nice to spend time with your friends. After dinner TNG and I came back to my place to watch the Cubs game. Which we won! (yay!) After that... he spent the night. Insert whatever debaucherous thoughts you can come up with here. In the morning he made french toast and scrambled eggs, and I made sausage on my Lean Mean Fat Reducing Grilling Machine aka The George Foreman Grill. Breakfast was lovely. Then we moved my furniture out of my bedroom and into the spare bedroom. Why you ask? Well, after the ex-roommate moved out of the spare, my dad put up some insulation on the outside wall, drywalled it, and painted the room. Yes, I live in Northern Illinois and much of my house does not have insulation. It was a vacation house when it was built and the builders didn't think you needed insulation in the summer. Anyway, so now that I've moved into the spare room, my father is going to do the same to my room. I'm not sure yet if I'll actually move back or not, but there you have it. After the moving experience we walked over to the next street to an estate sale, I bought a frying pan and a collander, both of which I needed desperately. :) Then we went on a Halloween costume trek. My small town has a really nice joke shop that sells Halloween costumes every year. So we went by there, J.J. Blinkers, and checked out the supply. I think we found a nice one for him and I already had one, so we should be good to go. I don't want to give away the surprise though! On to more shopping after that. Yay! Sabrina got to play dress up and pick out clothes (and boxers) for TNG's job interview on Monday. A polo and dockers. Yum. Can't wait to see him in a suit and/or tux. All men look good in a tux. We came back to my place then to watch the Cubs game. Which they lost. :( But that's OK they're back in Atlanta tonight and have one more shot to clinch the series and go on to the next playoff games. Wheee! TNG left after the Cubs game as I was getting tired. I'm meeting him and his mother for brunch/lunch today at noon. Haven't met the mother yet. Hope I do OK. Oy, what should I wear????

GAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!

Crap. Dammit Dammit Dammit. UGGGHHHHHHHH Why can I do nothing right at work? Why? Why? Why? So last week I wrote about how I totally screwed something up for this one gal, then turned around and screwed something else up. Earlier this week I was scheduling a meeting for her. Guess what? Screwed that up too! Despite the fact that I was being extra special careful with it! UUGGGHHHH So yesterday she asked me to do this one simple thing. Very easy. Create a link in a database to an external website. No problem. Easiest thing there is. Except 1. I didn't test the link because those things are so easy and I do them all the time and why should you need to test them? and 2. Apparently the links don't work the same way in this database but I didn't know that so the link didn't work. I would have figured that out had I tested it, but I didn't. Stupid mistake. Again. Can't do anything right. On top of that, I really don't have a whole lot of work to do so now I get to be worried that they'll wise up to these two factors and show me the door. Just what I need, really. What's more, is that I've been here for over five years now. I've had four previous positions at this company and at each and every one of them I wasn't busy on a regular basis. Which was one of the main factors as to why I left those positions - in hopes of finding something more challenging. Except I apparently can't handle more challenging things because the simple stuff any idiot could do continue to elude me. I feel like Bridget Jones. Only if I were 130lbs I certainly wouldn't be upset about it!

Haloscan

Grrr. Looks like Haloscan is down yet again. Sabrina is unhappy. How can Sabrina leave comments on other people's blogs if the commenting system is down? How? How? Grrr.

Hmmm

Perhaps am getting sick. Perhaps am allergic to work. Headache seems to be coming back. Wonder if can self induce illness so as to go home early and sleep rest of day. Or listen to end of Bridget Jones: Edge of Reason. Afterall, weird lady at blood center said I was coming down with something due to higher temperature and she has more medical training than I.

HUZZAH HUZZAH HUZZAH!!!

Cubs win!!! Wheeeee!!! The Cubbies won the first game of the series with Atlanta. I admittedly, fell asleep. Apparently was tired. I remember being down 0-1 in the 3rd inning and then woke up in the 6th and it was 3-1 couldn't keep my eyes open so I went to bed. Found out this morning that we went on to win 4-2. Wheeee!!! Yay! The broadcasters mentioned in the beginning of the game that the team that wins the first game goes on to win the series 67% of the time. I'm liking those odds.

Donating blood yesterday was a bust. TNG was able to, his first time ever, and he didn't even pass out! I however, had a temperature too high. The max allowable is 99.5 and mine was 99.6. Yep, 1/10th of a point wouldn't let me pass. I blame it on the interviewer. She seems a bit "off" to me. I couldn't tell if she was just overly friendly or if she was flirting with me. I didn't like it. She made me nervous. First off she looks at my birthdate and calls me a "youngun" but then admits that she's 6 months younger than me. Then she tells me I've got no sense of humor and grew up too fast. What?? She then asks how many kids I have, I tell her none, and would like to keep it that way. It now becomes her duty to change my mind and get me to have children. Because people I actually know haven't succeeded in it and I'm going to suddenly change my mind for a total stranger. Perhaps am getting ill and will be able to stay home for a few days. Afterall, I was coughing last night and my nose ran a bit this morning. I've found that if I wish to get sick, I don't, and if I don't want to get sick, I will. Man I could use some time off...
