I really don't understand men. Like many Singletons (thanks Bridget Jones) meeting people over the internet is certainly not out of the question. There are many dating sites out there, and well, I belong to a few. Why not give it a chance, I say? Well, perhaps someone is trying to tell me something. You could say I'm picky, but I'm fairly specific about what I'm looking for, and I say so in my "ads". White male, 5'10"+, Single/Divorced/Widowed, No kids, Lives near me, and most of all, intelligent. So what kind of responses do I keep getting? Those from non-white, short, married guys with 5 kids living about 100 miles away from me. Oh, and they can't spell worth a lick, so that just outs the intelligence thing. Now, I don't expect someone's spelling and grammar to be 100% perfect, Gods know mine isn't, but if I have to read an e-mail four times over to get the gist of what someone is saying because their communication skills are so terrible, that makes me believe that their intelligence isn't way up there either. And then there are the flat out weirdoes. Here's a response I got this morning: "Hi, just want to say Hello. Can you please send me more information about you? I'm looking for a romantic partner." Sounds like he's ordering from a catalog! "Hello, please send me more information about the sweater available on page 34." Ok guys, when responding to a woman, this is NOT the way to do it. You might want to read their "ad" first and perhaps comment on something contained therein. I used to be really nice and respond to everyone, but I've found that just gives them hope when really, they shouldn't have any. This one went straight into the trash. I only picked it up and flattened it out to post it here for the amusement of all.
Yesterday was the Summer Solstice, Midsummer! We had beautiful weather, and a nice ritual. It was small as a lot of people are busy this time of year, but still good. I enjoyed myself. It would be nice to get more members, but I'm sure that will happen in due time. During the praise offerings several Blue Jays in the trees above us started chirping back and forth. Somewhat appropriate. Our Grove patroness is the Morrigan, and Blue Jays are a part of the Crow/Raven family. All in all, it was a good day.
